Q: About a month ago I moved to a beachside town to go to school and, since then, my acne has become worse than it has ever been in my life. I'm not surprised, since I'd noticed before that being on the ocean causes massive breakouts, however, I'd really love to get rid of my acne, at least a little. Does anyone know the reason for this or have any advice on how to solve the problem? Thanks

A: Acne can be caused by excessive sweating, so if it is really hot there and you are sweating a lot that contributes to acne. I know acne is just the worst, my suggestion is to go to your dermatologist and ask about Accutane (Isotretinoin). It is a pill you take that reduces the amount of oil that your sebaceous glands produce. This got rid of my acne. My only suggestion if you take this route is to pick a conservative dosing. High levels of Accutane can cause several side effects such as hair loss, joint problems, and rosacea if you are fair skinned.
